What is VAC?

On March 18, 2003, the Viking Athletic Club was formed.  Dr. Kay Kendrick and Christy Price organized a group of parents to address the athletic issues of Brentwood Middle School.  The first priority was to form a Board of Directors to establish the foundation of the organization.  This foundation included agreement on a set of bylaws from which to operate, as well as, a purpose statement to provide a central focus and target for its members.  The VAC's marching orders were issued and all of the organization's efforts were directed using the following Purpose Statement:

"The purpose of the VAC is to support fund raising for all sports, to promote participation, school spirit and commitment to Brentwood Middle School Athletics."

The Board of Directors has grown with the expansion of services and commensurate with the level of VAC achievements. A complete listing of the board members is provided under the tab "VAC Board". The achievements are many and continue to grow every day. Notable accomplishments include:

• Financial support of 31 teams including cheerleaders
• Added two soccer teams, one baseball team and one softball team
• Supported lacrosse and bowling clubs
• Organized and directed indoor concessions, season passes, and sports physicals
• Updated championship banners in gym
• Funded purchase of BMS apparel for fundraising
• Improved communication among administration, coaches, parents and players
