What is VAC?

The purpose of the Viking Athletic Club (VAC) is to support fund raising for all sports, to promote participation, school spirit and commitment to Brentwood Middle School Athletics.

Club Sports at Brentwood Middle School

Club Sports at Brentwood Middle School currently include Swimming and Lacrosse. Why are these called "Club Sports"? Any sport that is not "sanctioned" by WMAA (Williamson Middle Athletic Association) can not be a Brentwood Middle School sport. In order for BMS to field teams for non-sanctioned sports, the sport is called a Club Sport and must operate separately from BMS, meaning that the sport can not utilize BMS facilities for practices or games and must secure their own coaching staff. Athletic funds given to BMS by Williamson County Schools can only be used for sports that are WMAA sanctioned sports. A sanctioned sport must operate under the WMAA Constitution and By-Laws.

The BMS school website, therefore, can not list tryout or schedule information for club sports. However, VAC is thrilled to be able to provide the connection that parents and students need to get the latest information regarding tryouts, schedules and other team related information on the bmssports.com website. The coaches of the club sports will need to provide VAC with that information, and the information will be posted as soon as it is received.

Please direct any questions regarding club sports and their role at BMS to our assistant principal, Bill Harlin billh@wcs.edu, who currently oversees all BMS athletics.
